Petrol pump: ask for the meter to be zeroed
Watch the display go to zero before filling starts, and ask for a round amount that is not a common preset. Both take three seconds and both remove the two most common ways of being short-changed.
RasoiWet cloth trick to read a gas cylinder
Wipe a wet cloth down the side of the cylinder. The part still holding gas stays wet longer and dries darker — that line is your fuel gauge. Now you know whether to book the refill today or next week.
